Lesson 13

Let’s learn two more vowels today. Kep practicing whatever you have learnt so far. Combine the consonants and vowels and learn the sounds that they make together. Learn as many words as possible for each sound. Think of the words you may already know for each of the letters.

Here the letter ‘o’ is used to represent the sound that we usually use when we repeat the letters of the alphabet. The sound is the beginning sound of the word ‘one’. The longer sound for this is given with a plus sign. That sound is similar to the beginning sound of the word ‘oath’.

Reading about the sounds will not help you. Listen to them and repeat them aloud. Your speech organs need to get to practise saying the sounds. Try to listen carefully and repeat all the words that begin with these sounds.

In the following paragrah how many times the sound o is used and how many times the longer +o is used. Count and find out. Also find out which other letters you can recognize.
